I have 7 images JPEGs of the same dimensions. I have inserted the first one in Photoshop as a Linked Smart Object (with a chain icon), and made transformations (skew).
Now I want to duplicate that layer and replace the image with next JPEG that has a different color while keeping the size transformations I have made to first one.
If I "Convert to Smart Object" and Replace Contents... it doesn't keep the transformations.
What I am doing wrong?
1 Correct answer
If I "Convert to Smart Object" and Replace Contents... it doesn't keep the transformations.
As expected.
The newly created Smart Object has NO transformations yet. (Edit: … the transformations being applied to the SO inside the SO)
A lengthy work-around might be
• Image > Duplicate
• Layer > Smart Objects > Relink to File
• shift-drag the SO back to the original image and close the copy

Have you tried to duplicate Linked Smart Object using Ctrl + J then Relink to File, it works for me in case that you want linked objects.

In a quick test both instances relinked to the other file for me.
