Enter key creates 3D text instead of new line

Hello!
I'm using one of the latest Photoshop versions.
When I write a text and press Enter or Shift+Enter the text coverts to 3D instead of creating a new line. How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance!

If you are using the Numeric keypad Enter, try the Alpha keypad Enter. Does that work?

I tried both Enter keys. The Alpha key makes the text 3D and the one next to the numeric pad does nothing. thank you anyways

We didn't ask before, but are you creating:

  • Point text: click and type; resize changes type size
  • Paragraph text: drag text frame first, then type; resize reflows text

Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts. You can't change the default set — you can save a new set or you can use the default set with overrides. In the upper right corner, what does it say? You might select the default set from the dropdown to see if that solves your issue.

Resetting Preferences should also work, but let's try other things first. Directions are here for backing up preferences and doing a manual reset:

I believe I'm creating a point text.
Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts > Upper right corner has "Photoshop defaults"
From the instructiuons - Photoshop's Preferences folder - can't find this

From https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html :

Windows 10: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

When you create Paragraph text, you only need to press Enter for a new paragraph.

I'm on a Mac and it's different. Can you open Windows File Explorer, navigate as far as you can, then post a screenshot when you get to the folder you can't find?

Can we see your entire path? I think you are in the wrong folder.

It won't look exactly like mine, because I'm on macOS.

I found "Adobe Creative Cloud Experience" in an entirely different folder.

You need the Adobe folder that is inside the Roaming folder. Try again:

C:\

Users\

yourusername\

AppData\

Roaming\

Adobe\

Adobe Photoshop 2023\

Adobe Photoshop 2023 settings

Your keyboard shortcuts on Windows can be found in menu Edit >Keyboard shortcuts

Your preferences file (for version 24) will be in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023\Adobe Photoshop 2023 settings

https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Yes - v24 is Photoshop 2023 🙂
