Epson ET-8550 Printing too dark from all adobe Apps but not Mac preview

We have new Imacs in our design classroom and a new Epson ET-8550; it first had problems loading paper 13X19 paper from the manual top loading path, always trying to default to the rear paper path or cassette if it was 8.5 X 11 paper.   So I looked it up and reinstalled the Epson drivers. Once the OS and drivers were re-installed, it solved the paper path problem, but it started printing too dark from every Adobe App; if I opened the same file from the Mac's preview, the colors were perfect.   I tried ALL the different settings, but Photoshop vs. printer manages color. I checked and doubled the paper profiles and settings (high quality), recalibrated the printer, and checked the monitor brightness.  I don't want to print from

Epson ET 8550, Mac photoshop and paper profiles.

I just purchased the Epson ET 8550., so excited, but so many problems initially: dark flat prints, prints refusing to print in appropriate size, no Epson paper profiles.  I found several solutions (here and on epson website) and none work. Of course the usual solutions were provided: delete the driver, reboot the driver, reinstall the driver, read all the articles in adobe and Epson websites. In the printer dialog, select " photoshop manages" to "printer  manages color."  One solution was  install printer driver twice then delete the old one?!?!.  If I had a nickel for every solution and hour spent!

I am a dog photographer and illustrator. I just use the 3 main Epson paper (pro lustre, glossy and matte) and keep everything as simple as possible. I Finally stumbled on this solution and hope it helps everyone and anyone.

For me the basic problem was that the Epson paper profiles were downloaded to the wrong place no matter whether I downloaded from The Epson website or the CD provided with my new printer.  The solution:

The Epson paper ICC profiles are stored (by defaut) here:

Finder/MacintoshHD/Library/Colorsync/Profiles

There  I found all my past, present,  and current profiles.

I selected the Epson paper profiles, copied (not cut) and put them under a similar folder but under my "user" folder:

Finder/macintoshHD/user/my name, or whatever you named your computer/Library/Colorsync/Profiles

Paste all the epson profiles there. Restart computer and photoshop. Everything works now!
