I have the newest downloadable version of Photoshop and wanting to use my Epson perfection 2400 photo scanner.  I know I have the Epson Twain driver, and have installed it, however that item has not been added to my drop down import menu's within photoshop.

Any ideas on how to get the epson twain to work within photoshop?

Thank you

It's a miracle, it finally worked!  I didn't do anything different, I just haven't touched the scanner for days, and when I plugged it in and opened Epson Scan, I had the proper scanning software available!

Thank you for the suggestions everyone.

Vuescan provides a Import plugin. You can trial out the software and see if that works for you.

Thanks. If I am unable to get a Twain version to work, I will look up that plugin.

What I should have pointed out is that Vuescan will be the updated driver for your old scanner by providing anything from a simple to a detailed professional interface (in the pro version). Yes it's $99, but i've had constant upgrades for years and never had to upgrade purchase, and it can be used on up to 5 PCs or Macs.

Twain hasn't been supported in Photoshop for many, many years. Just use the scanner software (which is what Twain did in the first place).

Quote from the Reference:

»Scan and import images using a TWAIN interface

Due to limitations with TWAIN in Photoshop, we strongly suggest scanning your images Scan and import images from a separate scanning application included with your scanner or the native OS scanning interfaces (Scan and import images using Apple’s ImageKit interface (Mac only) or Scan and import images using a WIA interface (Windows only)).

Note:

See TWAIN plug-in for more information about scanning using the TWAIN interface with Photoshop CS6 and later.«

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not able to use the default program that came with my Epson scanner (both of which are 10+ years old) because the software does not have the option to scan negatives/film, only photos and documents.  The Twain software had more professional settings and the ability to scan in negatives.
