@Eneko37392667ncu1 it sounds like it's a corrupted preferences. Have you tried a simple restart of the application, it often clears up temporary glitches. I am assuming this worked fine just recently. Since the problem started suddenly, it's a strong possibility that you may have corrupted preferences are a very common cause of unexpected behavior inPhotoshop. You can try a quick reset by holding down Command Option Shift (Mac) as you launch Photoshop. You will be asked if you want to reset your preferences.  If the quick method doesn't work, you can manually delete the preferences file. You will need to close Photoshop first. The location of the file depends on your operating system, so you may need to search online for the specific path for your OS.

Since the update to version 26.9 I do have the very same problem. I was advised by Adobe support to  change the installation language for Photoshop to English. Well, that is what I did. However, it did not change anything. I know do get the error message in English and not in German any longer.

I expect that there will be a fix soon and I am not keen on paying for a software I cannot use.

Or is there any other idea, what there is to do to make it work again?

@joergs18224797  Please check the Windows event logs if there are entries about the Photoshop crashes.

@joergs18224797 I'm also on a German version (Windows) and I don't have such problems. So I think it isn't a general bug, it's device specific.

Check if your system is up-to-date. Do you have installed all recent updates and patches for the operating system and the device drivers, especially the graphic driver. If you have a NVidia graphic card installed, make sure that you are using the recent Studio version of the driver, not the Game Ready version.

Please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be get from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post.

Hi Axel,

thank you for your answer. Yes, the system is up-to-date, and everything
worked just fine right until the Photoshop Update to 26.9.

Also, as previous posters, I cannot provide the system information, as
Photoshop is simply not starting, so I have no access to menus within the
software. I am sure, however, that Adobe would not force a software update
on me, if it is incompatible with an existing system. 🙂

I guess it would already be helping, if the customer-facing error messages
would be descriptive...

I do hope that a Photoshop update fixes this issue very soon, as I actually
need this software.

Best regards,

I do have the same issue, but on a German system. Neither changing preferences nor switching languages did help. The issue occured with update to 26.9, with Photoshop working fine in all the years before it.

I do have the exact same problem. Last week everything worked out fine and I was able to use Photshop. Since this week it does not open with the exact same error message mentioned above. I deinstalled and reinstalled Photoshop twice, but still the same problem. The newest version is installed. Any ideas?

Hey @default454294248999aa,

Thank you for reaching out! I’ve moved your post to Discussions for now, until we have more information about the crash.

When you have a moment, please share the following:

  • Have you submitted a crash report? If so, here’s how to check or submit one: How to submit a crash report

  • Any screenshots or error messages you saw when Photoshop crashed, along with a description of what you were doing at the time.

  • Your system information. You can find this by going to Help > System Info in Photoshop, then copy and paste the details into a text file and attach it to your reply.
