error message layer is locked by parent

in Version 25 photoshop I get this error message "Could not complete your request because layer is locked by parent.

Not A parent just by parent.

Any ideas? cannot edit my work till i get this fixed

Hi @MarceeOslundDuggar Check your layers panel is your current layer locked due to another layer associated with it?

Is that layer in a folder? If it is, check the folder isn't locked...
