Question

Error on re-opening PSD files

Hello

I am having an issue with Photoshop happening randomly. Quite short story but very annoying and interrupting workflow very significantly. I hope you can help me in any way. Sometimes after saving PSD files and trying to reopen them, an error appears saying "Cannot open xxx.psd because of a program error" (or similar, I have translated it). Thus, I cannot do anything with such a file. I have tried resetting Photoshop preferences, restarting Windows - nothing helps.

I am using Windows 10 Home - compilation 1809, up-to-date Photoshop. My drivers are also up-to-date, including these for on-board and dedicated GPUs. Issue happens randomly, cannot really re-create it.

I'd like to request some help, as this issue has only been happening with newest "modern" Photoshop versions. CS6 has paradoxically never given me such issues...

Best Regards,
Greg

Update.
Luckily I am using Affinity Designer as well. Paradoxically, the Designer (priced $50) opens the corrupt PSD files without any problem. Exporting them to PSD from within Affinity Designer allows re-opening in Photoshop. Temporarily my problem is solved, but I hope not to need to do this procedure anymore, thus any help is welcome!

What version of Photoshop are you using and what OS are you using. Can you upload the PSD you can not open and post a link to it so we can test with version of Photoshop

As I have intentionally written in a separate paragraph, I am using Windows 10 Home compilation 1809 and up-to-date Photoshop. I.e. the new, recently released in CC application version.

I cannot upload it, as I have fixed it with Affinity software. I needed to go on with the project, my apologies for not saving the file.
