English below

Hallo,

Installierte Photoshop Version: 25.9

Windows 11

Kann mir irgendjemand helfen?? Ich wäre sehr dankbar.

Beste Grüße
Nicole

---

Hello,
If I want to use the "Liquify" filter, I get the following error message:
The Liquify command could not be used because the file is locked, you do not have appropriate access rights, or another program is accessing the file.

I have already tried previous versions of Photoshop, but the message persists.

I can apply the filter to older photos that I took with my Canon 5D Mark III. With the newer photos from the Canon R5 it suddenly no longer works.
Although both are JPG files.

Installed Photoshop version: 25.9
Windows 11 Can anyone help me? Kind regards Nicole

Hallo Nicole,

Habe u.a. mit Camera RAW, Firefly usw. daran gearbeitet, Ebenen dupliziert, in Smartobjekte gewandelt, gelöscht... geht alles. Nur 'Verflüssigen' meldet diesen Fehler. Finde den Fehler, Adobe...

The same thing here: I was still working with it yesterday, but today I apparently no longer have access rights - although all other Photoshop functions on the same image work without any problems and without errors at the same time. I have worked on it with Camera RAW, Firefly, etc., duplicated layers, converted them to smart objects, deleted them... everything works. Only 'Liquify' reports this error. Find the error, Adobe...

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/basic-trouble-shooting-steps.html
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html

If you suspect that this is related to specific image files can you please provide one of the affected ones?

Thank you for your input.

I tried the things already, but the filter don´t work. The interesting thing is, that the problem only consits at pictures from my nikon cams - Pictures from Smartphone or my dJI Drone haven´t problems.

Yes i´m administrator.

Hope you got some relaxation.

The file causes no problem here when Liquifying, neither destructively nor as a Smart Filter.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Unfortunately turning off GPU usage is no proper solution as it invalidates GPU dependent features (like the Rotate View Tool and some Filter acceleration for example) but it indicates problems with the GPU driver or the GPU.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

What have you done about general Photoshop performance and Scratch Disks so far?
