Error While Using “Remove Background” Feature in Photoshop

Hello,
I am facing an issue in Photoshop when trying to remove the background of a photograph. Whenever I click the Remove Background button, an error message appears: “Couldn’t find background to remove.”

I have tried restarting Photoshop and resetting preferences, but the error still persists. This happens even with images that have a clear subject and background.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a recommended solution or workaround?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

I know this is solved, but I'm tossing this out in case it helps anyone. I've had the "Couldn't find background to remove pop-up" and it was a tiny, itty-bitty,  transparent box I had not even noticed hiding in a corner. Delete it, and the problem is solved. This happens relatively often, so it must be an odd habit I have. Hope this helps someone.

@Electric_fantasy0356 try setting the image processing to Cloud in the Photoshop preferences to see if it helps

I tried setting the image processing to Cloud in Photoshop preferences as you suggested, and it worked perfectly. Thank you for the helpful tip!
