Exit Code: 6, Ps Cs5 trial install.

hi, ive downloaded the trial of Photoshop Cs5 but it wont install, i get to about 10% in the install and then i get "Exit Code: 6".

ill begin with my system specs:

(Swedish language) Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39GHz

4GB Ram

Ati Radeon x1950xTx

Asus P5B deluxe motherboard

1680x1050 Acer P223w screen.

i've cleaned my regestry for problems with "Glarysoft Regestry repair", disabled my ESET NOD32 anti-vir, ran the setup as Administrator, choose to install as trial but i get to about 10% and i get Exit Code: 6.

I was having the same issue. Turns out the problem I had with installing was because I changed some drive letters after I installed Windows. So I went into the registry and found every reference to the old drive letter and changed it. Now I'm good to go. If you have any partitions/drives other than your system drive and you've changed their drive letters at some point it's worth looking into.

The same problem installing CS5 MC Trial.

As I see, the problem is in Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86.

It does not install even by direct .msi load.

The error while .msi install:

How can I override this?

Maybe, just to try to remove somewhere in install package any information about this "Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86", so it won't be installed at all while installation?

Why I need this "Microsoft_VC80_CRT_x86" if I've got Windows7 x64 with all the latest updates?

THE SOLUTION!!!

Try install all .MSI files

If you receive this error:

Go to regedit, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components, find de Key Error, that case, DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8,

Right click in key, and click in Permissions

Click, Advanced:

Click in ADD

Click Advanced:

Click Find Now, and select de first option, Administrator, and click OK:

Select FullControl, ad clique OK.

And, click APPLY

If receive any questions, click YES.

Do IT for ALL .msi, that you received ERROR.

Done it, install ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS5 normally.

@nightmarebr : Wow , thats surely a long way to resolve issue but it seems to be only one right now. It is clear that installer is having trouble installing content because it is not having any permissions to do so.

All, Please reconfirm if your Account name has the same authorization i.e. of an Admin having Full control.

Yes accepting UAC means you are authenticating as Admin , have you tried setting permissions to all the keys ? Was pretty long method to resolve the issue.

I even tried to enable my administrator account and created a new account with admin priveledges but all accounts do exactly the same thing but I noticed even while logged in as administartor I tried running a java update install and even that would not work so I am not sure if I have something weird going on with my account setttings?

When you are logged in as admin it is supposed to allow you to do anything right?

I think all the steps you did for me last night remotely worked we were just missing one item that I found fixed my issue:

Before trying to reinstall I also followed the typical recommendations as before for disabling firewall, virus protection etc and the right cliked on setup for CS5 and selected "Run as Administrator" (I always did this before too)

UAC is still turned off but so far install worked fine after applying the registry setting below:)

I found a fix for my first problem and I have listed it below and will post to the forum. I am now able to install some other programs without the error and I guess I will try reinstalling adobe now?

Recently I tried to install Wise Package Studio and got the following message. "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation".

For my particular instance it was fixed by changing a value in the registry under

HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

Name - DisableMSI Type - REG_DWORD 0 = enable

This was originally set to 2.

Hope this helps out someone else who comes across this error.

During my search I also found that there is a Windows Installer 2.0 Bug which sometimes throws up this message. If there is a trace of an application previously having been installed, and you are trying to re-install it, you may get the above error. You can fix this by going to the registry to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\

Browse through and find your product. Delete the key relating to your product and this should allow the application to install. I haven't had the opportunity to check this out. But just in case someone is reading this and might need this resolution give it a go.

My problem was fixed but I just went to install a new version of Snagit and ran into the same issue and sure enough this registry key was set back to 2 and as soon as I reset it back to one I was able to install just fine. Not sure what is causing this but will keep forum informed

Finally I lost it!!!

Adobe Photoshop CS5 installation is pathetic on Windows 7 x64

I got smooth installation with Dreamweaver cs5 but photoshop is seriously annoying...

I have tried each and every method for install, including the above included with changing registry permissions and subincl commands...nothing worked up.. I am still getting EXIT CODE:6 with 56 errors

I think I have to remain sticked with Photoshop CS5

After reading all these problems, I was sure it will not install in win XP - especially because I have Sp2 and the minimum requirements are win xp sp3.

Surprise in windows xp sp 2 is installing and works perfect

Better than CS4. Also the graphics hardware acceleration seems to be better than in CS4

There's only one bug (also existing in CS4) the close minimize and maximize buttons sometimes are replaced by the default looking windows buttons from the classic interface skin.

EDIT : also I didn't have to use "run as admin" or something. Just installed normal and everything went smooth

Has adobe adressed this issue yet? Is this problem showing up in the full version? I have the trial installed and the full on order.

@Basilecom: I have checked machine of two users who were facing this problem. One did not have permissions to install the content and some traces of unsuccessfull installation and other user had some issue with Group policy editor which needed to be rectified by Microsoft. This issue seems to be on Case to Case basis and we can help you out in narrowing down the problem. Like the issue was resolved for first user for which Photoshop is running successfully now.
