I'm quite new to photoshop, I have a problem, I would like to export a photo in the form of a PNG image in which I have drawn a part of the photo using the ""quick selection" tool and I would like that once exported this selection can be seen through the "ant trail" hatching " I tried to use the trace function but the shape that comes out is not the same as that of the "ant trail" function, in particular with the "ant trail" function a rounded trace is shown exactly as I would like.

so I would like to understand how I can export an image where the "ant trail" hatching is also visible in the exported photo.

Hi @far27322772y2b4,

Marching ants are merely a visual aid for the convenience of Photoshop users.  They are not an actual graphic element.

As mentioned, a screenshot is one option.

1. Use the Print Screen key on your keyboard.

2. Go to File > New  (Ctrl/Cmd + N) to create a new document.

3. Use Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste.

4. Crop out unwanted areas with your favorite tools.

Another option is to use the Shape tool with 0 Fill and a dashed Stroke line. Adjust Stroke color and weight values to something small but legible like marching ants.

If you're OK with isolating just the selected area onto a new layer, right-click > Layer Via Copy.  This will create a new selection layer above your original image.

Hope that helps.

Dashed lines, thank you Nancy, I was making a quick answer late at night way from the pc. To convert a selection to a Path, you can try a right-click with your selection tool inside the selection, or IIRC, the central button of the Paths panel (Windows >Path)

Screenshot is your best option. You can look into Snagit for better screenshots.

Hi, in order to have the marching ants visible, short of making a screenshot, it is not so easy.

You could also convert the selection to a path, and use a thin black and white pattern as its stroke.

In both cases, the marching ants would be still.
