Export Layer Mask as a separate file in photoshop

Hi !

I am working on a background removal project where I need only the mask (Binary) after the background is removed.  After I do "Select and Mask" and export the mask as a new layer,  I am unable to only save the layer mask. Can someone tell me what I must do to save the layer mask alone after the masking operation?

Thank you

In what format and Color Mode do you need the new file to be?

The »simplest« version would probably be copying the Layer Mask's content, pasting it into a new file and saving that.

A script could be used to automate that.
