Hi,

I imported an image into photoshop with a transparent background, removed it, and then exported it to my folder.

When I check the mofified image it still has a white background???

How is this even possible?

Layer 0.jpgexpand image

(this is the image after exporting with no background)

Thanks

Hello, please post a screenshot of your export settings.

Also, can we know the file format you selected?

JPEGS do not support transparency, for instance. Try using PNG.

What do you mean you removed a transparent background?

What format did you export it as?

The image you posted is a jpeg. The jpeg file format does not support transparency.

Typically an image like this is vector and comes in .ai or .eps format. Often the creators will add a checkerboard patten as a layer which can be hidden or deleted when the image is opened in Illustrator. If you open it in Photoshop it is all one layer.

You say that the image had a transparent background and you removed the transparent background. This does not make complete sense in Photoshop:

  • a background layer cannot be transparent
  • if the layer had transparency, there was nothing to remove

If this is what happened and you have a vector image, the best practice is to open the .ai /.eps file in Illustrator and delete the layer with the checkerboard pattern. Then bring it into Photoshop.

Others have told you that you need to save in a format that supports transparency. If you need more help, please ask again, as these instructions are brief.
