Extract Shadows and highlights from a clothing

Hey Peps,

Is there any way to script extraction of shadows and highlights?
I attached a sample file that needed to apply that effect.

The inline image shows an action, which I'm guessing is a commercial offering – therefore automation would surely be possible.

Without playing with the sample image, my first thought is a combination of frequency separation and luminosity masking, blend if sliders.
