extracts clouds from black background

How do i extract clouds from this black backgound.

 

I've tried color range, the magic wand tool.

 

But it isn't a perfect selection.  the clouds don't look natural.

Do you need to extract them. If you just select them roughly, paste them into new layers and  set the blend mode of those cloud layers to 'Screen' they should look natural and the black part will not show.
