Eye dropper crashing Photoshop CC 2022

Hi, recently installed CC on new 16" MbP - crashes every time I use the eyedropper to sample a colour.

Anyone got any experience/advice before I have to reinstall (and lose precious working time)?

Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. Can we ever expect a fix on this?

@notsogrimreeper what version Photoshop are you using? This was resolved a while ago.

Any fix for this?   It's happening to me as well.  When using eyedropper and selecting a color on an open photoshop document thats not the current active document.   Also, crashing when changing pantone colors in channel swatches, when I go to type a new pantone, for example if I want it to jump to Black 4 C,  I will type "Black" and suddenly get the spinning wheel.

YES!! I'm having the same exact issue. Usually when I have large and/or multiple files open.

I have just started experiencing the eye dropper crashes/hangs. Latest version of PS on a Mac, select a color w/ eyedropper and instant spinning beachball that doesn't go away, PS becomes unresponsive! Maddening to say the least HELP!

    Hi

Which version of Photoshop are you using?

Reset the eyedropper tool right clicking its icon in the options bar (top options bar)

Having the same issue.. using version 21.1 - Each time I use the eyedrop it completely crashes Photoshop and won't even open files that were opened during the crash.

Try to reset the preferences, open the preferences and check the reset preferences and quit the software

I'd like to know the answer to this, too. I'm having the same problem (new Mac Mini computer). I've done all the updates. The only thing that seems to have helped is to change the sample size from "all" to "5 x 5" or something similar, but it still surprises me by crashing suddenly when I use the eyedropper tool. It is VERY frustrating.

I forgot to add - I do not use the sample ring. I'm just trying to select a color. Selecting from a different open Photoshop file seems to cause the worst problems, but I used to be able to do this easily in CS3.
