I've tried the following:
Restarting Computer
Unistall/Reinstall Photoshop 2020
Reverting to Photoshop 2019
Unchecking the "Use Graphic Processor" feature in the Performance Setting

Oh wow! I didnt see that you've already tried unchecking that. It shows the same way in Photoshop 2019?

Yep, the same in both. It's weird because not all my files are doing this. I'm just discovering that some of them are.

I am trying to replicate this issue. Have you tried different photos to rule out possible file corruption?

Wow! This is fascinating. What happens if you view or place these files in other programs? Would you send me the files? I will try to open them on my computer.

Wow! The preview and file showed up the same way. It came in as a single-layer background image. Was that how it was supposed to open?

No, it's a composite project that I'm working on. Just a few layers of stuff.

Gotcha! I can replicate it. Hopefully, someone smarter than me will come up with a solution to this. I will keep looking and trying in the mean time.

I didn't fully give up yet. Would you post a screenshot of your layers panel?

I am wondering it the issue is with the graphic processor. I've seen this issue with an earlier version of Photoshop.
Our fix was to to to Edit > Preferences (Windows) | Apple > Preferences (Mac)
Select Performance
Uncheck Use Graphics Processor

Right @happie_97. I saw that as a possible and gave it a try. Didn't work.

Your preview is a seperate image from your actual file. With everything you have tried, I'm going with your file is corrupted.

Inclined to agree. I was really hoping there'd be a solution though. 🙂
