Fixed: Photoshop 22.0 crash and freeze while using Neural filters

I have a decent processor (AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor 3.60 GHz) and RAM (32 GB RAM) on my system even though the new Adobe Photoshop 2021 crashes every time I try to launch Neural Filters. Seems like a totally failed version of Photoshop.

OK, guys. I have something that might help you.

AFTER A LOT OF INVESTIGATION and NO THANKS to the useless Adobe Support.

It turns out that it is a BUG with Photoshop. Since I do NOT have a printer nor do I USE a printer, I have turned Off my "Print Spooler" Service.Well, turns out that for some reason, the Neural Filters did NOT like this service being turned OFF. The instant I turned it back on (set to automatic), everything worked as expected.

Try that!

I just re-enabled the Print Spooler service, AND THAT FIXED THE ISSUE!

Thank you for helping where Adobe could not.  I'm happy to have a fix, but horrified that Adobe can't figure it out or actually fix it (despite the blatant lie in the title of this post that it's "fixed").

James, Adobe support is pretty much USELESS.

The guy remote connected to my PC for 3 hours doing basic stuff any 3 year old could do.

I was so pissed that I decided to take matters in my own hands.

The title says "Fixed" but this issue is still not fixed.

In total I have spent 6 hour on line to Adobe support. The problem is not fixed and clearly the support staff have no clue as to the cause. Lots of ideas but none of them worked. They kept on saying that I needed the latest driver for my graphics card despite the fact that I had it installed. The real problem must be elswhere as I decided to brush the dust of a 7 year old I5 powered PC that has an old graphics card with a 5 year old driver and only 8 Gb of RAM. I installed CC and Photshop and neural filters worked straight away. So an old donkey of a PC can run them but a 2 year old fully up to date one cannot. Fortunately I have a brand new PC that does run them.

The statement saying the problem is fixed is total rubbish, it may be for some people but I know that it still exists for one of my PCs and for many other people.

Pull your fingers out, Adobe.

I had this problem too. Well, to be specific, I would download a filter and nothing would happen. It would not get installed. No errors. Adobe looked at it and didn't have an answer. I said I'd do some detailed file debugging and see if I could find the issue.

FOUND! In my case, the problem was that your Windows TEMP directory must be in C: (where Photoshop is installed). This is the default and takes a little bit of Windows trickery to move TEMP to another drive. But if you have done that, it will crash. Move TEMP (and TMP) back to C: and it works fine!

Note this is not the "scratch disk" setting in Photoshop. It is not any setting in Photoshop. It's Windows. It worked in 22.1 and failed in 22.2. I do not know if it is fixed since I have moved my TEMP/TMP back.

I had those crashes too. Last week I got a new computer and it works fine. Compatibility issue with older hardware, I guess...

The problem only occurs on one of my computers. Adobe support gave me ano help jonce they had double checked what I told them. that my system and graphics driver were up to date. My PC is two years old but wth I7 processor, 16GB RAM anf masses of spare disk space. My Graphics card is GeForce 1050 GTX Ti which 4 GB memory and the latest driver. Adobe haven't got a clue how to sort this out. The whole poin of CC subscription is to keep up to date but I didn't realise that would mean me buying a new PC every two years. Bad show Adobe.

There's no change.  Like everyone else here, the filters still crash Photoshop.

Same. Have a brand new laptop with the latest and greatest and when I go into the Neural Filters and try to apply them, the app itself crashes. App is up to date version 22.01.........

not sure what was "fixed"? But many still rec crashes.
