Flame render looks different in preview

My flame filter looks different in the preview than when it is rendered.  In the preview file the flame has the desired effect I want, but when I actually render it, it looks WAY different. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Thanks!

Ok, I think I figured it out. I ended up doing the letters one at a time. The only two letters that wouldn't use the filter correctly were "R" and "D". I ended up creating my own path with the pen tool for those letters instead of creating a work path through the layers window. The flame filter rendered fine that way.
