Fonts not displaying or changing to a different font automatically

Ever since Photoshop 2025 on the desktop has come out I have been having a massive amount of problems with fonts in existing projects. This has been such a problem that I've actually had to reinstall Photoshop 2024 in order to work on most of my previous projects. I've just come to the point now to where it's extremely irritating that I can't use the software so I thought I would throw out a question here to try to figure out what's going on.

In the attachments you'll see there are two different screenshots. One is from 2025 where the tax on the bottom of the shield is missing, and 2024 where it's visible. These are the exact same file being opened by two different applications.

Being completely disappeared is one of the problems. The other problem is when I go to change text in an existing image it immediately defaults to a different font. The default font it's using is different for every image, I can however go back highlighted select the font and supposed to be and then save my work, but if I reopened the image in 2025, the fonts all messed up again if I reopen it in 2024 it's like it's supposed to be.

I haven't done anything with fonts, different than normal, I don't even believe I've added any font since this started. But there's definitely something wrong with the way that 2025 is processing funds on my system.

You need help would be greatly appreciated

Hi @csgaraglino, I totally understand how frustrating that can be.

Just to narrow things down, does this only happen with files you created in older versions of Photoshop, or are you seeing it with all files?

As a first step, could you try resetting your Photoshop preferences to see if that helps? Here’s how to do it: https://adobe.ly/45kKAyo

Thanks so much!

Both older files created with Photoshop, and it started about two months ago maybe three, which means I was already into 2025. So yes, I'm seeing it with both versions.

i've already left the office for today, but I'll reset the preferences first thing in the morning and see if that helps.

Hi @csgaraglino,

Thanks for confirming. Please let us know if resetting your Photoshop preferences resolved the issue.
ʉۢ If not, can you share a sample PSD file with us so we can investigate further?
ʉۢ Please confirm whether this happens with all files or only specific ones?

ʉۢ Ensure you are running the latest PS version 26.10.

Also, please copy & paste your system info from the PS help menu.

This will help us determine whether the issue is file-specific or more general.

Best,
Anshul Saini
