Free Transform tool not working on groups

New Here ,
Apr 21, 2023 Apr 21, 2023

Just updated to the latest version of PS on Mac and cant select Free Transform on any groups, but it works ok on a layer - really inconvenient when you have lots of layers in a group that need a simple thing like a resize - please fix ASAP! or if anyone knows a workaround please share I've already wasted an hour trying to work something out and failed

I can't replicate that here (on Windows 11). Can you check though whether any layers in your group are locked.

Hi @Nikky26171419b5y2 testing here and it appears to be working as expected.

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Hi @Nikky26171419b5y2 can you check your options bar with the Move tool and make sure you do not have Auto Select Layer active?

@Nikky26171419b5y2  Since you have so many layers in a group, let's make sure none of the layers are locked. Select a group in Layers panel. Open the context menu (hamburger menu) and select "Lock All Layers in Group..." (Don't use keyboard shortcut Cmd+/) You will see a dialog. Make sure none of the checkboxes are checked. Click OK. This will unlock all layers in the group. Then try Cmd+T.
