Gaps between letters have different sizes

So when I create a text in PS there are gaps between the letters, but they all have different sizes. One is big, one is small. The tracking value is set to 0 for all, checked that several times. Experiencing that with every font, but just in PS not f.ex. in Illustrator. How to fix that issue?

Thanks!

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences to see if that sorts out the issue.

(Under the General tab in Photoshop preferences)

You need to learn the difference between Tracking and Kerning.

I know the difference between them. I do not want to manually adjust the space between every two characters. This should not be necessary. This issue did not occure a while back, so it must be a bug or so.

It's the newest version of Photoshop 2021 and Windows 10 64-bit. I have the problem with every font (again: just with Photoshop, not for other programs), on the picture that is Bebas Neue.

I just did a quick test and it looks like this "out of the tin".

Spacing depends on the font and hows its character sets are created, Character width and white space can vary be very proportional.

The font I used is Bebas Neue, one of the most used fonts in the world, it should not have any issues with how it is created. Also if I use the same font in Adobe Illustrator and type the same text, the spacing between the characters is fine, no difference between each of them. A while back this isue did not occure in Photoshop, so I don't know what to do.
