Generate high resolution content when using AI generate to a high resolution file (300dpi).

When I use generative expand, the extended image is not as high-res as the original. Great for smaller size outcomes or digital but I hate it for print.

The size limitation is because of server bandwidth. This is about what the internet can handle at present.

Adobe Creative Suite is a professional program, with pricing that is commensurate with that. Many people here like myself are professionals, so to hear that you can't use generative expand with high resolutions is completely unacceptable. But it's not limited to that. We have found in our business that many of the generative AI features fall down with high resolution images. And, in fact, many of the generative fill AI features fail completely.

To add insult to injury, today I received a renewal email that showed pro going up by $10 a month. It was a very verbose and flowery marketing email professing the benefits of AI and Adobe's commitment to professionals. But it's all honestly very disengenous considering that most if not all of the generative AI features fail completely. We have found them completely unusable, and as such, we don't use them.

So, with all due respect, Adobe, we downgraded this account. Our next move is to start looking at alternatives to Photoshop and the entire Adobe Suite, for which we now have three full subscriptions. And at thousands of dollars a year for a program that keeps introducing new bugs and unusable beta features, the writing is on the wall that we will start transitioning away from Adobe. We will very likely go simply to a Photoshop subscription, as we don't get enough use out of the rest of the Adobe Suite. We've already downgraded LR Classic due to bugs in later versions and can move to Capture One. For video we can use Final Cut pro. We don't use Illustrator enough to justify it.

I never thought it would come to this, but it has. Good luck Adobe.

@Scott_BFAR

What did you do up until September 2023? That's when Firefly (generative ai) was introduced in Photoshop,

As for the competition, that's basically Affinity Photo, which does not have any generative ai.

I have been a professional (employed) photographer for decades. I have made a deliberate decision to not use generative ai, ever, so I'm probably not the right person to post in this thread at all. But I do feel that decision has made me a better photographer. The point is - generative ai is a new service, it didn't exist at all just two years ago, and it's under development. For now, there are some technical limitations. Internet bandwidth is one of them.

Before 2023 we didn’t use AI. Now we don’t use it because it just fails and
has too many limitations for large files. We’ve tried it for canvas gallery
wraps and cleaning up scans but it fails miserably.

Yes. Affinity Photo. It’s time to buy a copy and really evaluate it. There
really is no other option, but Adobe is now a monopoly and is using that
strength in its pricing.

I like PS a lot and have used it for decades, so a move would be painful,
but I feel it may be time.
