Question

Generative expand crop is not working

I am using PhotoShop 25.12.0 release.  I have used the crop tool and geneative fill to expand the background of my images with no problem.  But today it is not working.

I have Generative Fill selected in the crop menu bar.  And delete cropped pixels unchecked (I tried it checked with not results).

Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?

Thanks

I am also encountering this issue with the recently updated 2025 version. Have you found a fix yet?

Hey there,

We're sorry for the trouble. Before helping with any troubleshooting, please update Photoshop to the latest Max release, v26.0. You can find more details here: https://adobe.ly/3CpHCfK

We need more details to help you. Does this happen with any specific image or with all the images?

Please share the system info of Photoshop from Help > System info > Copy & paste into the reply.

If things don't work after the update also, you can follow the below steps:

  1. Make sure that the Generative Expand feature is enabled in the Preferences. Go to Photoshop Preferences > Technology Previews and check if the New AI Features and Settings Panel is selected.

2. After enabling any new features, restart Photoshop to ensure that all settings are applied correctly.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Shivani
