Hi,
I am a professional photographer and use generative fill thousands of times per day to "repair" my images. Even out skin, remove hair from faces, clean up backgrounds, general retouch for all kinds of purposes. The generative fill was almost perfect in the previous version of Photoshop to complete this task. Since I updated to the newest version (26.0.0), I get very absurd results. Photoshop adds objects to the skin of a person (like a rabbit when I even out skin under a human's eye or just puts cryptic letters on cheeks. The success rate has dropped to maybe 5-10% (or less!), before the update, it was more like 90-95%. I usually just hit enter and don't actually write a prompt, but even when I give a clue (or precise instructions), I get just random, absurd results.
I am desperate to have this fixed. Little hickups are normal, but this ruins my workflow. Can someone official comment on this? On the screenshots I tried to even out skin. Look what Photoshop generated...

Hello there, Same thing happened to me. i just updated Photoshop. Before the update i used generative fill to remove some wringles from some Jeans and it was doing the work perfect with texture and everything. now it's a blurry mess and sometimes spawns weird objects. Hope they fix this ASAP!

Exactly the same issue here,.. the texture doesn't match anymore, none of it works properly, the results often aren't even the same colours

Texture Fix for Generative Fill and Generative Expand in Photoshop Desktop 26.0
Hello,
We have a fix for the issue with texture generation in Generative Fill and Generative Expand in Photoshop desktop 26.0. This is a server-side fix; meaning you don't need to download any updates Photoshop 26.0 to see the better results and can use it right now.
Please retry your examples where the Generative Fill texture was unexpected @Helen30733041m5dt
We are still working on the issue of unwanted objects in Generative Fill, but plan to have an update for you soon.
Thank you for your feedback to help make Photoshop better!

Hello,
This isn't just the texture. After selecting a subject (e.g. blackbird), the generative fill produces absurd suggestions like a blurred out hummingbird or if I say "cartoon", it makes up some cartoons that have nothing to do with a blackbird. Just last night, before the upgrade, I was able to get a variety of effects on each of my subjects. Basically, it appears that the subject or image selected isn't being factored into the generative algorithm.
There is a serious logic problem that was introduced by Photoshop 2025 26.0.0 CC. I'm not sure how this got through testing but it's unusable. Please post on this thread when the function is working.
Thank you,
Sharon

As I can't reply directly under the thread where I got a response, I'm having logic problem issues too,.. I ask it to remove a spot I get a microphone or a black something that's big and round,.. it's awful. It was a spot creating a bump on a clients neckline,.. so I had to take my time to edit around.
And while the latest fix has sorted some of the texture issue it hasn't returned it to how it worked previously, the matches are regularly off.
And in addition I'm getting constant warnings about how my ai fill isn't allowed, when I'm trying to infill a white background that was a bit wrinkly,.. I can only assume because someone in the photo has some skin showing on their leg or arm or something..
Which is infuriating.
Effectively it is for the most part not working.

Generative fill on Photoshop express has gotten absurdly bad. It has zero uses now because it's just creating a very visible patch rather than blending it in.
It also doesn't seem to recognise clothes as well, and will either remove an arm if I'm trying to repair some textures, or replace the arm with someone's face.
i also repeatedly get NSFW warnings for trying to adjust hair or fix discoloured skin.

Filling in round hair lines,.. oh my gosh! It used to be incredible, now it's all glitchy and awful,. now i'll want a white background sorted out near a hair line and the person ends up missing chunks of head, the hair doesn't have matched texture anymore, might even lose parts of clothing,. it's just terrible and utterly non functional, as if it's forgotten what people are.

Unexpected Objects Fix for Generative Fill in Photoshop Desktop 26.1
Hello,
We have greatly reduced the unexpected/unwanted objects that started popping up in Generative Fill.
The fix is mostly client-side, so you will need to update to the latest build of 26.1 (released 11/17-11/19)
There are also some server-side changes (in the Firefly server) that went live 11/17, but the main fix requires updating Photoshop.
Please retry your examples where the Generative Fill added strange things instead of creating a seamless remove operation.
Thank you for your patience and thank you for alerting us to the issues.
@careaux the examples you showed (blobs on skin) should be remidied.
We appreciate your input!

Hello, I'm having issues with the new generative ai feature. I work as a graphic designer and I often use this feature to expand images from thumbnails into banners, it was working perfectly before but now it gives seemingly random results! Useless. Any advice?
