Generative Fill → Enhanced Detail Crashes (MacBook Pro M4 Max)

Hi everyone,

I’m working with Photoshop version 26.8.1 on a MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip, running macOS Sequoia 15.5, and I’m experiencing the following issue:

Whenever I click on “Enhance Details” after using Generative Fill, Photoshop crashes consistently. This happens regardless of the image or project.

I’ve already tried everything available under Preferences > Performance, including assigning the GPU, enabling/disabling all relevant performance settings. I’ve also cleared several cache-related folders, including:

– Camera Raw Cache

– PluginData from com.adobe.cai.uxp

– LocalStorage and temporary .ldb files

– Photoshop-specific assets and settings files under ~/Library/Caches/Adobe

Here’s an important detail: after restarting the Mac, the feature works again, but only for about 10–20 “Enhance Details” actions before Photoshop crashes again. After that, the only way to make it work again is to restart the machine — then I get another window of 10–20 successful uses.

I rely on this feature in my professional workflow, so any help, workaround, or shared experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hey, @Marco31561238saty. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share the system information from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

I couldn't find crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to the community with. If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

  • Ensure Photoshop has the required permissions on macOS: https://adobe.ly/3DyUwsz
  • Go to the following location to launch Photoshop via the terminal.
In Finder > Application Folder > Open Photoshop Folder > Right-click on Lightroom .app > Show Package Contents > Contents > macOS > Photoshop—double-click to open.

Share the log of what you see in the terminal window when Photoshop Launches.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

Hej Sameer,
sanke for the answer. I could not respond earlier.

The path mentioned above has been corrected by me > Right-click on Photoshop .app >

Enclosed all three reports, Terminal, OSX, Adobe

It would be a dream if you can help me. My workflow is stuck in the basement 😉

Thanks!

Sorry, I have attached the same document twice with a different name. Ignore the document Adobe_Crash_Report.

Here are two more:
