Generative Fill Not Blending Properly and Leaving Object Impressions

Whenever I try to remove an object using Generative Fill in Photoshop, the result doesn’t blend well with the surrounding area. It often leaves behind a faint impression or outline of the object that was removed, making the edit look unnatural.

I’ve noticed that several of my friends are facing the same issue, so it doesn’t seem to be an isolated case.

@rahul nanda are these examples something you can try using the Remove tool instead of Gen Fill? It gives better results.

Hi @rahul nanda! Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community!

You're seeing these faint impressions while removing using Gen AI because the generated results may not always be perfect and can require further adjustments. If your selection has a hard, unfeathered edge, the AI has a very precise boundary to fill. It might struggle to seamlessly transition the new content across this sharp line.

You can try using traditional tools like the Clone Stamp Tool, Spot Healing Brush/Healing Brush Tool, or Layer Mask Adjustments to refine the results achieved by Gen AI. You can also use the Remove Tool, a dedicated tool that works locally and is designed specifically for object removal without consuming generative credits or introducing new elements. You can take a look at this Helpx article for more information on how to replace distractions with Remove tool.

It's a process of trial and error and combining the AI's power with traditional, precise manual cleanup.

Thanks a bunch!
Cheers!

I am getting the same "ghosting" when I use the generative fill or the remove tool
