Participant ,
Nov 16, 2024 Nov 16, 2024

I have just returned from 3 weeks overseas to find generative fill is not working. No problems before I left.  I haven't altered or updated anything.  I shut down my computer before I left.

iMac

OS Ventura 13.3.1

PS 2024

25.6.0 release

Thanks, Heather

Hi,

Gen fill does occasionally glitch.

This thread has some good suggestions for resolving the problem.

What happens when you try Generative Fill?

Have you considered updating to Photoshop 2024 (ps ver 25.12) or Photoshop 2025 (ps ver 26.0)?

Hi Heather,

It sounds frustrating to return to this issue! Here are some steps and tips to troubleshoot:

  1. Check Your Internet Connection: Generative Fill requires a stable internet connection to process.
  2. Log Out and Back In: Log out of your Adobe account in Photoshop and log back in to refresh your credentials.
  3. Check Your Photoshop Installation: Ensure the Generative Fill feature is still enabled. Go to Help > System Info to confirm the installation is complete.
  4. Update Photoshop: While you haven't updated anything, it's worth checking if a patch is available to resolve potential bugs.
  5. Reset Preferences: Hold Option + Command + Shift (Mac) while launching Photoshop to reset preferences, which might fix the issue.

If the problem persists, Adobe Support may have specific advice for your setup. Let me know how it goes!

I create what you see & hear.

Tnanks for all the replies.  It seems that it was the internet connection.  All fixed.

Hi Heather! Adobe released the Beta version of Gen. Fill in May, 2023. I have applied updates as they were made available. I have never had a problem with any of the AI apps Adobe released. My issues with Gen. Fill started last week. I have tried every "fix" I have found online, and none have rectified the situation!

My Adobe subscription is up for renewal later this month. However, if Adobe cannot provide a solution before then, I will not renew. I think perhaps Adobe has gotten too big for their britches, perhaps resting on their laurels? They added several new features to the AI in Photoshop recently, I believe 3 fairly major updates in 2025.

I have a sneaking feeling this is all a marketing ploy... "push these updates out there" so they can justify another price increase! Microshaft had a reputation for doing that same thing. Remember if you will Windows 98 and then Windows 8. Neither was ready for market but they released them despite many known issues.

I sincerely hope Adobe can come up with a definitive answer before my renewal date!

Good luck to you Heather!

Gregg
