Generative Fill Problem "Generate Similar" Missing

Community Beginner ,
Jul 30, 2024 Jul 30, 2024

I installed the 25.11 version of Photoshop last week. The generative fill should have the option in the 3 dot menu for variations to "generate similar". I only get good, bad or report. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no effect.

I'm working on an iMac with Sonoma 14.5. When I installed the update, Adobe indicated that my system was compatible. Any ideas?  Thanks for your help.

@ginnyh690852 Confirmed. I am also on a Mac (M2 laptop) and do not have "Generate Similar" options after generating.

After searching the forums, I couldn't find anyone with the same issue. Sorry we're in the same boat!

@ginnyh690852 it's the same on Windows for me, maybe it hasn't been released from Beta yet

None of the tutorials etc. mentioned that it was still in Beta. Strange also that it's happening on Mac and Windows. That leads me to believe the problem is not the hardware or operating system.

You're right. I now see that this is still in Beta. I hope it comes out soon!

I'm having this exact same issue. Generate similar is an important function, and it's nowhere to be found in the current version of Photoshop for me. I only have options for "Remove background" "Good" "Poor" and "Report"

Well it is a Photoshop Beta Feature, not in the original release yet, i guess you might have figured that out , since i am a month late here to answer.

Which, if you think about it, makes no sense! Why include a reference to a (non-existent) beta feature in a full release? There is also the pop-up about using a reference image. Again, not available now. How about removing those references until the full release! (Side note: And don't say, "Well, they're just teasing us with what's coming up". If that was the case, they would pepper the crap out of Photoshop with "teasers". And wouldn't that go over well. /sarcasm)

Can report this is still an issue and Generative fill is SO CLOSE to being the most amazing tool of my deisgn career if this and the issue blending the brightness / line where the new section and old section meet are fixed.

October 27 and still a problem. There's no "generate similar" in the toggle options.

update - new 2025 version of PS has generate similar in the 3 dot menu now - mine was previously missing. Still an issue with the generated content being significantly darker and not blending well, and textures still don't generate well either (like a render on a wall for example) and still an issue with angles not being extended well (like a wall that's on an angle and you're extending the image, the extended part will be a noticably different angle to the main part even with good definition and a good amount of image to reference). Also tapping "enhance detail" makes the generated part signifcantly lighter than the main part, sigh.

Same problem here.  It is described as a feature here but not implemented yet maybe? : https://helpx.adobe.com/au/photoshop/using/generate-similar.html

@screennamebetween1and25ch This is available in Photoshop 2025 version 26.0.0.

After you generate go to the Variations in the Properties panel and click the ellipses (...) button to reveal:
