Generative fill suddenly grayed out for specific images?

I was using PS with one of my illustrations and Generative Fill was working fine on that image and all of a sudden it's grayed out for only that specific image but not for others (yes the layer is unlocked). Tried resaving the file with a different name and that did not work either.

I looked up problem on the web found a bunch of old posts saying that you need to change your birthday on Behance, but there is no place to enter your birthday on Behance or the Adobe website. Also, I read that there are going to be GF credits as well soon, but I did not find anywhere on the Creative Cloud app credits listed and I haven't been using GF excessively anyways. Tried restarting the app and restarting my computer twice and no effect.

Thank you for your question! What happened is that I was previously logged in as a user, now I tried to log in as an admin. I had to log out of the Cloud (I use my account on another machine), log in as admin and then the generative fill worked. I then restarted the PC, logged in as user again - interestingly this time it didn't bother the Cloud - and it's worked since. I don't understand...

I had the same problem. For me, my Image Mode was on Grayscale, so I had to change it to RGB Color.

Maybe at the time you have not the right layer selected…

I have the same problem: today when I tried to use it, it turned out that the Generative fill function is greyed out. By the way, I can't set my age anywhere either - but I don't think that's a problem, because I'm a contributor. I deleted Photoshop, reinstalled it, still no generative fill!

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?
