Glitch style animation options

I'm currently using Procreate animation assist to animate short films and photos on my ipad. 

 

I use mixer brushes on top of photograph/film files to make a flickering glitchy  effect as per the file. 

 

I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be better to use an adobe alternative on my Macbook? \i'm an artist and would like to ensure a more professional process or is Procreate (animation assist) OK for what I'm doing?

I like your work. 

But I'm not at all familiar with what works in galleries and generally on the art market. Maybe you need to get in touch with galleries or an art agent that can give you better insight?

Which software you are using depends mostly on the effect you want to achieve and workflow parameters.

 

Workflow parameters could be the way you want to be able to edit the piece and whether that is possible in the application as well as collaborations - so if a team is working on it, then of course you have to fit in. 

 

And then if you want to use the artworks in a portfolio to apply for certain jobs it also makes sense to use the software that is used in the industry you are applying in. 

 

If you are doing this just for yourself, use whatever feels good for you. Is there anything in that video that you are not OK with and want to improve? 

 

If you want to dive into video effects, then within the Adobe cosmos that would be After Effects.

Hi Monika,

 

This is really helpful- thank you.

Im looking to show these animated glitches in exhibitions, on screens or as projections alongside prints on paper and aluminium, so of which could be stills of the animated works. 

I'm keen to ensure my artwork is of a professional standard, although I do personally like what I can do on Procreate. I guess there could be some issues of resolution, particularly if I want to makes them bigger should the opportunity arise on LED billboards for example. 

I might subscribe for a month and explore other potentials on Aftee Effects, although, like most things in life, there is quite a steep learning curve.

Billboards might be physically huge, but the resolution could be very low. 

It could perhaps help you to just contact the manufacturers of those billboards or people who seel advertising space on them and just ask.
