glyph alternates still appear, even after unchecking "enable type layer glyph alternates"

a while ago i tried experimenting with glyph alternates

but now whenever i type in any font with glyph alternates, i can't remove them when they appear

i tried disabling "enable type layer glyph alternates" in preferences, but that didn't work

help would be much appreciated

Can you give an example (an Adobe font preferably) where this happens? 

 

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be an option if nothing else comes to mind:

i have neglected to mention that i was using photoshop beta when the bug occured. i have since switched to the main photoshop
