GPU not actually working properly

I'm not 100% this is the right place for bug reports so please tell me if I should post this somewhere else instead, thanks.

Photoshop detects my GPU correctly but only uses it if i create a file on the screen plugged to the graphics card.

So for example if I create or open a file on screen 1 and move it to screen 2, screen 2 will be using GPU even though it's plugged to the motherboard. However if I open a file with Photoshop being in screen 2, it'll be using CPU no matter where we move photoshop.

So some tabs/files will work on GPU and others on CPU, even though GPU usage is checked!

If this is unclear I tried to make a quick video to detail this here :  https://youtu.be/Wo-pQ9NaIag

It might be a little subtle, so maybe turn on 1080p to see how pixelated the line actually is.

Also I'm on windows 8.1.

Thank you again Dave and D Fosse for your help and time

The problem got fixed by (as suggested by D Fosse) plugging the tablet into the graphic card as well and restarting my computer, I actually had a configuration issue that got fixed.

Thanks again! Have a good day.

Is there any particular reason you can't plug both screens to the video card?

If a screen is plugged to the motherboard, it will be fed off the integrated Intel adapter. There has to be one, otherwise there wouldn't be a connector on the motherboard at all.

That a screen can be plugged to the mainboard, and still use the graphics card, defies all logic. I can't imagine how that could work...?

Normally dual graphics won't work at all, or crash, or BSOD.

Thanks for the answer D Fosse, I can't plug the 2 screens on the graphic card because it seems it doesn't handle it.

The tablet is capable of using the graphic card though as proved by opening a file on the first screen then moving photoshop to the tablet screen and having it work like the GPU would do it.

OK. This still doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe it does to someone else.

But any reasonably current graphics card should be able to handle 2 screens. That's sort of bare minimum these days. The only exception is if these two screens are both 4K or 5K.

    Hi

I had difficulty seeing the issue - however, with both screens plugged in,  can you go to Help >System Info and click copy - then paste the info here

Thanks for taking the time to help Dave, I'm sorry though I don't feel comfortable sharing personal information.

If I can help you fix this bug in any other way please tell me.

It wasn't personal info I was asking for. As a moderator, if I see personal info displayed in a post I remove it. However, the Photoshop system info shows the set up of Photoshop on your PC. I don't believe there is a bug, but rather a problem with the set up, for example the use of multiple GPUs.
