Greyed out options

I have had some issues with Photoshop cc with greyed out options. Also no option for my printer. I have had this same issue a couple of weeks ago but realised I still had Photoshop 2017, so have been using this as it seemed to work ok until today. Uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop cc but still the same issue. I am PC with Windows 10. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced the same? Thank you 🙂

    Hi

You have described a number of issues including greyed out options, errors when trying to reset preferences, unable to print.

This is what I would do - in this order and check after each step whether the issue is resolved. If it is - stop there.

    1. Close and restart Photoshop and open a simple document 8 bit 1024 x 1024 pixels RGB image mode
Try the File >Print menu. If Print is not greyed - hold down the spacebar and click on it. This will reset the print dialogue.

    2. Update/reinstall your printer driver and make sure it is set as the Windows Default printer

    3. Start Photoshop as admin - right click on Photoshop in the Windows start menu and choose More > Run as administrator. This will show if you issues are due to a permisssions issue.

    4. Whilst still running as administrator- try the Preference reset

    5. Make sure Windows is up to date (Windows > Settings >Update and Security > Check for updates)

    6. Download the latest driver for your NVidia GTX745 GPU - you are using a 2016 driver - but a March 2021 driver is available

    https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-uk#

When installing choose Advanced options and Clean install

    7. If none of that helps :
Use the CC desktop application to uninstall Photoshop
    Re-install using v22

    8. If that still does not help

Use the CC desktop application to uninstall Photoshop

Run the Abobe CC cleaner application

    Re-install using v22

What is your image bit depth, check in image mode?  If it is 32 bit change it to 16 or 8 bit. 32 bit is a specialist mode for HDR and rendering and several functions are unavailable at that depth, including printing.

Hi Dave. Thanks for getting in touch. Image bit depth is 8 . I'm a printer and always print through Photoshop, only had this issue recently. It such a pain as I can't seem to do any work!! Thanks

Have you tried resetting preferences (in Preferences > General >Reset Preferences on Quit)? I know you have updated and uninstalled/re-installed, but preferences can be carried forward and if they are corrupt can lead to issues even after updating.

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the Photoshop forum so that proper help can be offered.
