Grouping Layers

Having some weird issues grouping layers by right clicking in the layers window.

If I select text layers and right click, the option "Group from Layers" is not available.

If I select any raster, smart object, etc. layers and right click the group option is available.

If I select both text layers and smart object/raster layers but right click on one of the text layers the group option is not available.

If I select live text layers and smart object/raster layers but right click on one of the smart object/raster layers the group option is again available.

Feel like I'm going crazy but it seemed like the option to group from layers was always available when you right click in the layers window no matter what layers were selected. Adobe support is was generally unhelpful saying that you would have to change the text to smart objects/etc. or navigate to the Layer menu and group from there.

Using PS on windows 10, only noticed this issue happen a few days after I updated to 21.0.1, uninstalled the newest update and reinstalled both 21.0 and 20.0.7 and the same issue persists across different files - screenshots of the menu options after right clicking attached.

Yep, that's one of the menus you can use to group layers - both that menu and the layer section in the top menu have the option to group from layers with any layer type without any issues.  The error I'm curious about is specific to when you right click in the layers menu.

This is not an error. This is the context menu for the text layer. For different types of layers it is different. For a text layer, it is already too long.

That's odd, I'm getting that too. I just use ctrl/cmd-G to group or ungroup layers. Easier than right clicking and finding the menu item.

Yeah quick keys are always the way to go, just happened to notice it and thought it was weird and got even weirder when Adobe started saying stuff like "you have to convert the text layers to smart objects to be able to group them.

Yea, that is bizarre!
