Hello.

I downloaded GuideGuide version 3.2.3 from the Internet, and was even able to extract the folders from the zxp archive. I understand that this is the last version of GuideGuide plugin that will work with CS6. Also, I am given to understand that there is a way to manually install it (my Adobe Extension Manager does not recognise that I have CS6, or any version of Photoshop, installed; however, that is another matter, which I am not asking about here).

Can any kind person tell me how manually to install this plugin?

I successfully installed version 2.1.4 of GuideGuide, but the method does not work with 3.2.3. The panel appears in my workspace, but it  is blank.

With thanks in hopeful anticipation,

Thanks for trying to help. I did consult the document (previously), and, although it is the official answer, it did not solve my problem. The xzp installer that it mentions failed, just as Adobe Extension Manager, to install GuideGuide. I had given up on ever installing it, but thankfully, a correspondent somewhere in this forum (the thread is over two years old, and I have since looked for it, and cannot find it) stated how manually to install GuideGuide 2.1.4. I did this, and, after making lit

I did this, and, after making little alterations (in CS6, the folders were a bit different), it worked (I am using a Mac, by the way).

Later, after downloading GG v. 3.2.3, I tried to install this in the same way as before. It did not work. That was when I posted on this forum, for ideas that would help. Anyway, essentially, the procedure for v 3.2.3 is essentially the same as that for 2.1.4. However, there is a snag that can throw anyone, as it threw me at first. Below, I am pasting in the document that I composed for others with the same problem. I can guarantee that, if these instructions are followed, you will be able to install G.G. v 3. 2.3 in CS6 at least (and, very likely, in CC also. However, I can only speak from my own experience, and I do not use CC. Nor do I ever use Windows, so the instructions for a Windows installation may need a little alteration also. Here is my document:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MANUAL INSTALLATION OF GUIDEGUIDE (version 3.2.3) into Photoshop CS6 (and, possibly, other versions of Photoshop)

Sometimes, Adobe Extension Manager will not install an extension. Below is a way of manually installing GuideGuide version 3.2.3 into Photoshop CS6 (it is assumed that the same method will work with other versions (for example, CC), but here, mostly, we are dealing with CS6 only).

GuideGuide, in various versions, may be downloaded in compressed form (an .xzp file) from the Internet. Here is the address for version 3.2.3: http://guideguide.me/versions/

If, for whatever reason, Adobe Extension Manager is unable to install this particular extension, then you will be compelled to use the free app called “The Unarchiver” ( http://unarchiver.c3.cx ).

Open the above app, and select the .xzp file that needs to be opened. The Unarchiver will then present you with a folder that contains seven items. Only one of these folders is relevant for CS6, and this is the folder entitled: cs6. Drag this out from the folder, and trash all the rest. (Of course, if you wanted to install into Photoshop cs5 or cc, you would, instead, drag out the folder with that name.) Anyway, open the cs6 folder. In it, you will see yet another .xzp file. With the Unarchiver, open this file. You will be presented with a folder entitled “guideguide”. This folder is the one that, in order to make GuideGuide 3.2.3 work, you need to copy into the correct place.

For Mac: (After making sure that Photoshop is not open.)

1). Open: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS6 ServiceManager/extensions/

3). Copy the above-mentioned guideguide folder into it.

For Windows (After making sure that Photoshop is not open.)

1). Make sure that the folder that you finally extracted is is entitled: guideguide

2). Open up C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEPServiceManager4\extensions

3). Copy the GuideGuide folder into it. (Depending on how up-to-date your version of Windows is, you may need to see whether the relevant folder has a name that is slightly different to the above.)

Mac AND Windows

Relaunch Photoshop, and, in Photoshop, go to Windows > Extensions > GuideGuide. (G.G. can be “docked”, just like any other palette.)

As I remember it, GuideGuide was a very straightforward install with CS6.  Just double click the file, which opened and installed it with Extension Manager.  I don't remember what version that was though, and GG is one of the many extensions that I have not been able to get working with CC2014 and later.

For manual install install you can follow this procedure:

1. Download the zip file above and unzip it (you already did that part!).

   OSX

Launch and run this command to open the install folder:

     open /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/

Copy the unzipped “GuideGuide” folder into the extensions folder.

   Windows

Copy the unzipped GuideGuide folder to the appropriate directory.

     Windows 64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\

     Windows 32: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\

If the Adobe\CEP\extensions folder does not exist, you can create it.

2. Restart Photoshop. You’ll find GuideGuide at Window > Extensions > GuideGuide

Ensure that you do not modify the GuideGuide folder. Doing so will cause a

“The GuideGuide extension could not be loaded because it was not properly

signed” error when you try to launch it.

Hello everyone, do you have the guide file for photoshop cs6?

I'm looking for it on the internet and I can't find it.

If you still have a copy, could you please make it available to me?

I would greatly appreciate it!
