Good morning all 🙂

I'm happy to say that the fix is working!

I've just updated photoshop with the new release, and all my Hebrew fonts are working again.

Thank you so much for that.

Not yet, we are waiting for the next delivery of PS. Maybe then they will deliver a fix for this problem.

For now, the only solution is to work with previous versions of PS.

You can downgrade to older version by going to the Create Cloude Desktop, click on the three dots next to the installed PS and choose "other versions".

yeah, i installed 2019 and 2020 side by side for the meantime. i enjoy some of the new 2020 features so i prefer having both versions to rolling back.

Let's hope this gets resolved soon (although 3 weeks is already too long) this is such a headache and bother..

After chatting with Adobe QA
The answer was Adobe has removed few fonts

and (If you wish to continue using these fonts, they can directly email fontbureau@typenetwork.com to take advantage of special offers from the foundry.)

The answer was not convincing and I expect it is not correct

Yes, this is the answer you get from "first line support ppl" which I also got when first tried to deal with the problem. They don't know and blame you for broken fonts.

But after chatting through other forums with adobe ppl, qa and dev, they understood there is a problem with the new version. The answer I'm getting now from adobe support is that they are working on a fix.

Any news on this?
It seems to be affecting only fonts with spaces in their name...

Hi,

As for my understanding, the developers are still working on it.

I don't think the name of the font is the route cause of the problem.

I have font Abrahm (one word with no space) that stopped working. On the other hand, I have Mydrid Hebrew (with space) that works.

I'm having the same problem with Hebrew fonts. Many Hebrew fonts which are working in previous PS versions, stopped working in CC2020 v21.2.
All the Hebrew fonts were working perfectly prior to the v21.2 update, and they are still working perfectly on PS cc2019, and any other MS Office software.
Adobe support told me that the fonts are not PS compatible, but how could it be that it is not working only on PS cc2020 v21.2????
I even tried to troubleshooting of adobe support for font, but with no luck. I also ran the FontTest script, for all 1003 font types I have. It found 4 problematic fonts which I then removed from my system, restarted PS, and same results as before.
I'm guessing that in this last release, adobe did some changes to font (which they did, it is even written in their release notes), but this change affected middle eastern languages (Arabic, Hebrew...)

I'm working with David from QA, and I've managed to narrow down this issue.

It seems that the problem is only with WorldReady type engine for L2R languages.

I'm attaching a video that shows the different behaviour in WorldReady type and Latin and East Asian type with both L2R and R2L fonts.
