Help! My layer keeps turning blue when I rasterize it!

So I'm trying to colour my gifs. To add the colour with a brush tool, I first need to rasterize my layer, as depicted in Pic 2 attached. However, doing so adds this blue tint to the layer that wasn't there before. The person that I'm colouring around develops this weird blue tint around her hair, eyes and mouth. As well, the layer will be normal coloured for the first 20ish frames, but then will be blue tinted for the rest of them. I attached the image below to show what happens. Pics 3 show where it gets blue, and Pic 4 where it's still normal. I want to get rid of this so I can add my colour, but I have no idea how to do so. Anyone have any tips?

Could you please post a screenshot with the complete Layers-stack visible in the Layers Panel?

Edit: As it is I suspect you are rsterizing one video layer but maintaining at least one other, so as the rasterized layer is a plain Layer now it would not seem unexpected that it might align with the video layer only at certain timeline-points.

Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response, I had to go to sleep haha.

And thank you for helping me btw. I realize my first post WAS kind of vague so I edited it. I'll give you a more detailed explanation of what I'm doing, with the screenshots of the layers!

Here is my layer with my base psd:

Here is what my psd looks like:

Now I duplicate Frame 70:

I change the copy from "Normal" to "Colour" (the box on the top left) so I can start colouring:

I then use the Eyedropper Tool to change my foreground colour from black to the one I want for my gif:

Now I try to use the Brush Tool. It can't let me do this without rasterizing my copied layer, hence the message box below:

Now it's rasterized. HERE it looks normal:

But once you get to Frame 20 and beyond, it looks like this:

I hope that makes more sense! 🙂

To answer your other questions about whether Frame 70 copy is in video format, or if I'm using the Colour Table, the Frame 70 copy WAS in smart object before rasterizing, it just looks like this AFTER I rasterize it:

and I'm using one of the Swatches I created to colour my gif:

In the screenshots »3.PNG« and »4.PNG« »Frame 70 copy« appears to be a video layer still, so which Layer did you rasterize?

Why did you attach the images instead of just posting them on the Forum directly?

What do you mean when you state that you need to rasterize the gif – was it actually a gif or some video format?

Please post meaningful screenshots that always include all pertinent Panels.

Anyway, »4.PNG« looks as if an Adjustment has been applied with a Layer Mask/Selection that does not match the image.

Please explain what exactly you are doing, what part Selections/Masks may play etc. because »apply a colour palette to my gif.« could be interpreted in more than one way.

Yeah, that wasn't helpful and also kind of rude.

I didn't know you could post them directly on the forum. This is my first time posting on here so like when I see "attach documents", I assume that's where you put the screenshots.

It's a gif...in a smart object layer. Which is why I said it was a gif??

Once again, to apply the brush tool to your layer, you need to rasterize it. As depicted in Pic 2. All the pics show what happens when I try to get from A to B, and what I'm having issues with.

And no, Pic 4 is the layer without any alterations. Once again, I was saying that for the first twenty or so frames, the layer is normal when rasterized, but then for the rest of the frames, the blue tint comes in.

I do apologize, »3.PNG« is indeed the image with the apparantly mismatched mask.

What is located in the Group »psd2«?

Can you provide the original file?

And again: What part may Selections/Masks play in your process? And how would you animate them?

»Which is why I said it was a gif??«

You might be amazed at the liberty some people take with the meaning of words.

Which is also why I asked to make sure about »apply a colour palette to my gif« – are you trying to edit the appearance in general or indeed the Color Table?
