Help Needed: Lost Layers in PSD File After Saving

Hi everyone,

I recently encountered a major issue with one of my PSD files. After finishing my work last night, I saved the file as usual and closed Photoshop. However, when I reopened the file today, I found that all my layers were gone, except for a single merged layer created using `Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E`.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
1. Checked for hidden layers in the Layers Panel.
2. Looked for a backup or autosave file in the Photoshop recovery folder.
3. Tried opening the file in Photopea to see if the layers would appear.

Unfortunately, none of these methods worked. I suspect that I may have accidentally saved over the original file with the flattened version.

Does anyone have any suggestions for recovering the layers in the PSD file? Is there another method to recover the previous state of the file?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! This file is critical to my project, and I’m hoping there’s a way to fix this.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
I think you're in a bad position. If the original file has been overwritten and you have no backups, it will be impossible to restore the data.
Kind regards
Mik
