1-Select the RED (probably with the magic wand tool.)  2-Activate the Patch Tool.   3-Drag (using the mouse) the RED to the BLUE.  4. Note all is working well to this point!!  5.  But, #!$*, when I release the mouse key, the RED turns to BROWN.

The idea behind the Patch Tool is to blend a selected area with its surroundings. Your selected area is surrounded by brown… hence the brown result.

May I ask what you were expecting? Were you expecting blue? Perhaps you should explore other options like copy/paste or the Clone Stamp Tool.

When using healing tools like the Patch Tool it can be a good idea to select an area a little larger than the one you want fixed. That way you are giving Photoshop a bit of wiggle room to create a better transition between the repaired area and the original image.

Hey Nick,
No worries. Give those Copy/Paste or Clone Stamp Tool options a try and let us know if you have any questions.
