I have a photo on a single layer. I used the pen tool to create a path, I used the make selection feature to turn it into a selection. When I copy and paste, the resulting image is faded to what looks like a 20% transparency, though the layer says 100%. Why is the pasted selection looking faded and transparent?
OK, guys. Problem fixed. For whatever reason, re-setting the preferences worked. I also used the channel and made the selection. I'm now getting a pasted image with hard edges as I expected. Thank you very much and have a great week!

Why is there no Path visible in the Paths Panel in your screenshots?
Why copy/paste instead of cmd-J (Layer > New > Layer Via Copy)?
How exactly did you create the Selection?

@Paul22501696s08q That's strange. I can't recreate it myself. See my video test. As suggested, it might be you need a preference reset or system relaunch to clear things out. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks you! Perhaps I am mistaken as to how I created the path. I may have used the mag. selection tool, then used the lasso tool to refine. I do have these two channels... cmd j gave the same result, by the way.

How exactly did you load the Channel as a Selection?
What happens if you duplicate the Layer and apply the Channel as a Layer Mask?

Yes, it doesn't seem like you used the pen tool to make your selection as you thought. Can you go back in history and do a re-selection?

You may still want to consider using Layer Masks instead of clipping the Layer.
That way the Mask can easily be improved later on if teh necessity should arise.

Hi. In the Paths panel, Option/Alt + click on "Load path as a selection" button and check the options.
