Help with text tool

When I click on a spot where I want to type text it types above the dot. Used to have no problem with it. Here is a photo showing where the text is versus the dot.

Or you might have Superscript turned on in the Characters panel

Clicked on reset character and everything is good. Thanks to everyone

Check the Character section of the Properties panel (Window > Properties). It looks like you have a baseline shift. If there is a value in that field, set it back to 0.

This is an older version, 12.0 not sure if it matters. This is what I see

You need to check the Character panel
