Hi ! I am finding a way to create the marching ants effect in Photoshop

I need to create graphics with a dotted stroke that looks like the marching ants in photoshop but doing it manually is a very tedious task using the pen tool. Is there a way to convert your selections into a stroked path that appears like a marching ant selection.

Might be a tad small. (But recognizable nonetheless.)

And did you rotate the lines? Like I said previously I think they are at a 45˚.

Does this look like the marching ants? Is it good enough?

Thanks a lot for your help; not precisely what I wanted, but this will work.

To explain it better, i converted the selection to a working path and now I want to make that path dotted/dashed so that it looks like the marching ants.

Do you need to animate the effect or do you need it for a static image?

No, I just needed the static image.

If the Dashed Stroke of a Shape Layer doesn’t suffice how exactly do you want to emulate the effect?

If I remember correctly it is more or less just the intersection of a rectangular pattern at 45˚ with a stroke.

This is not what i am trying to say , is there a way to demonstrate it through my screen?

Please post screenshots or sketches to illustrate what you mean.

If you are looking for plain dashed strokes try using Shape Layers.
