I'd like to create this text effect. Perhaps using a different, but similary weighted font. I need to use pronunciation symbols (Ô and Ē) that are not included on any similar available font I've found. It's only for five different letters, one of which appears twice. I posted this in the Illustrator forum as well, but I'm far more familiar with PS and I'm fine creating a raster file for now as it's only for a draft and if used in any final design would ultimately be created as a vector file in Illustrator.

I have a decent treeline vector file to work with where I can export it as a jpeg or png. Because it's only one short word I'm fine with the idea of creating each letter as a shape and then placing them side by side.

I'm guessing creating a treeline and using a gradient starting with a solid bottom would be a potential part of any solution?

The easiest way would be to create a layer mask on the treeline and blend wiht your text beneath it.

I'd be inclined to use seperate tree line layers for each letter, or you'll be unlikely to get good alignment. Add layer masks to the type and treeline layers, and blend with a soft brush.  It shouldn't take long, and would a nice fun project.

You could also make it with just the text on one layer and the trees above the text. Then in the Layers panel, set the Blend Mode for the trees layer to Screen.
