I have recently changed to a Mac and when I open my RAW files on Photoshop they come automatically as JPEG.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Nothing happens to the raw files. Think of them as a negative. You can always get back to that point and start over.

Camera raw will let you choose what format that will be opened in Photoshop, just click the link at the bottom of the camera raw dialog box. Photoshop it self can not open a raw file, that is why camera raw is required. This stops anything tampering with the raw file, keeping it untouched.
