How can we keep paying for this buggy mess of a program?

So apparently you can take and save a png file and have it save under 1mb then take the same png and save it again and now it is 10mb, then take the same png save it again and get 800kb, then take it and save it again and it's 10mb, now it won't save any under 1mb. How can you charge so much for something so buggy. The sad part is I used to own this software. Remember those days? When you would own something? I used to love Adobe but now I find the first part of my day looking all over for something else to replace it with.

To clarify, what you owned was a license to use the software.

"When you purchase software, you receive a copy of the software and a license to use it. You don’t actually own the software — ownership rights belong to the software company, and you’re still limited by the terms and conditions of the license."
