How can you tell if an image has EVER BEEN OPENED in Photoshop?

I am talking about random images, that I have, that I don't remember having or haven't used in a long time. How can you tell whether or not these images have ever been opened in Photoshop? People have said to use terminal to get the metadata for the images. The metadata is suppose to tell you if the images have ever been opened (and possibly edited) in Photoshop. I don't remember opening them in Photoshop. 

 

I guess what I am really trying to ask is how can you tell if an image has ever been opened in Photoshop AND saved in Photoshop (as a JPEG file, TIFF file etc etc)? Can metadata or anything else tell you this information?

Color me curious.  Why does it matter if Photoshop opened the file or not?

    If you use Export saver for web and strip meta data the will be no Photoshop in the file's metadata the will be none when you view properties

    If you open a image file into Photoshop and do not update the image Photoshop would not write the file to disk  the file would not be change.  You would need to log every file you open in Photoshop an search the log to see it you ever opened the file in question with Photoshop. You could also log all file you save with photoshop in case the file is saved without Photoshop meta data or the meta data get stripped to know if photoshop modified an image.

    In Windows, right-click on the image>properties>Program Name. If it's been opened in PS, it will say "Adobe Photoshop"

    Opened? No. You can open a file on a DVD that can't be changed, for example.
    If you use File Info to look at metadata, you may see history that shows if Photoshop saved the file (if it hasn't been stripped out.)
