Hello, I am looking to understand how I can achieve a simular effect of this image. I loved the layered 3D look but don't even know what to Google to start.

The actual effect at its simplest is like layered paper, or paper cutout effect. Search either of those terms with Photoshop tagged at the end and you'll find plenty of examples. Also, digital scrapbooking makes use of this layered style, with drop shadows and torn paper edges, so there is lots to explore.

Hi @Abby30687992l522 you can start with Filter Gallery>Poster to limit the colors to simplified output, then it looks as if they separated each to their own layer and applied a drop shadow to each layer.
