How do I disabled Libraries in Photoshop? I don't want to use libraries. Ever.

I just recently updated to the new version of Photoshop and Illustrator.

In my normal workflow I just create a quick icon in Illustrator and copy and paste that icon straight into Photoshop. The vector icon is then embedded in the document and if I double click it, it just re-opens in Illustrator and I can edit it once again.

I did this recently and found when I re-opened the Photoshop file, all of those vector icons are now missing and cannot be re-opened in Illustrator or copied into a new file. I'm assuming I will have to recreate them because they didn't properly get synced or saved in this library.

I don't want to use libraries in Photoshop. I don't want to mess with linked assets or files. I want all assets to be permanently embedded in the document just like they used to be. I do not wish to mess with syncing and libraries, etc. in Photoshop.

How do I disable this library function and just have Photoshop permanently embed my files?

Did you save the Photoshop document with the icons as a PSD file?  Using CC Libraries is an additional function, and not a 'one or the other' workflow.

I urge you to take the tiny amount of time it would take to look into CC Libraries.  They are a wonderful way of organising objects/assets and having them always quickly available.  You don't need to use Libraries to share those assets with other people, but you can share them with yourself from anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection.  They are a more convenient, faster and smoother way of organising your assets. You can view a Libraries contents on a web browser.

Libraries are not just for dragging your icon files to. You can group everything that you use for a particular client or project, as in type styles, brushes, colours.  They are one of my favourite things about Creative Cloud, and you are missing out if you ignore them.

Yes, I saved it as a PSD file on a shared server.

I will look into CC libraries a bit more, but right now I've got about 10 vector icons to redraw because the library didn't save them properly (or something?) so I'm not really crazy about it at this moment. For whatever reason, right now, those icons I copied form Illustrator are not linked in the library and can't be accessed.
