How do I exit the polyganol lasso tool in mid edit

What is the best way to exit the polyganol lasso tool in mid edit? Many times I am using the polyganol lasso tool and something happens I am not happy with and I want to exit what I'm doing and try again, but I can't find a good way to do it. I would think hitting "escape" would allow me to do this. I would think right-clicking would allow me to do this. None of these are working gracefully. I am having to complete the bad edit and hit ctrl-Z (which is not ideal). Can someone please tell me the best way to handle this?

Escape will end the selection, return/enter will close it.

If you are linking mouse clicks with the Alt/Opt key, then simply letting go of Alt/Opt will close the selection. It can be useful to do this then Add or Subtract using Shift or Alt. It is alwas useful to add a layer mask when half way through a selection, then selecting aditional areas and Alt backspace (Windows) with white to add, and black to subtract. We do this when using diferent tools to complete a selection (Lasoo, Pen, Quick Mask etc.)

You have the same issue, as everyone else, for god knows how much time. Lasso tool sometimes bugs out and doesnt react on Backspace, Esc or any other button. You have to double click to end selection and then undo it.
